Cookie Notice
The information below is intended to inform the user about the placement, use, and management of "cookies" used by the website www.nav.ro, operated by NAV Communications S.R.L.
Please read the following information carefully:
This website uses cookies to provide visitors with a much better browsing experience and services tailored to each user's needs and interests. These cookies may also come from the following third parties: Adwords, Google Analytics, Google.com, Zopim.com. The complete list of third-party cookies can be consulted below, in the Third party cookies section.
"Cookies" are used to facilitate Internet user access and the delivery of services, such as the personalization of certain settings (language, country, prices displayed in the local currency).
"Cookies", based on the information they collect about users, help website owners streamline their product so that it is more easily accessed by users; they also increase the effectiveness of online advertising and may allow multimedia or other applications from other sites to be embedded in a given site to make navigation more useful.
What is a "cookie"?
A cookie ("browser cookie" or "HTTP cookie") is a small file consisting of letters and numbers that is stored on any internet-connected device (computer, mobile phone, tablet, etc.) and is installed via a request issued by a web server to a browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome).
Note: "Cookies" do not contain software programs, viruses, or spyware and cannot access information on the user's hard drive. Cookies do not request personal data and do not personally identify Internet users.
A cookie consists of a name and content; its lifetime is set, and it can be accessed again by the webserver when a user returns to the website associated with that webserver.
Cookies are classified as:
– Session cookies — these are temporarily stored in the browser history, which retains them until the user leaves the website or closes the browser window.
– Persistent cookies — these are stored, depending on the preset duration, on a computer's or device's hard drive. Persistent cookies also include those placed by a website other than the one currently being visited — known as "third party cookies" — which may be used anonymously to remember a user's interests so that the most relevant advertising can be delivered.
What are the advantages of cookies?
A cookie contains information that links users to a specific website. If a browser accesses that web server again, it can read the already-stored information and respond accordingly. Cookies provide users with a pleasant browsing experience and support many websites' efforts to offer convenient services: e.g., online privacy preferences, website language options, shopping carts, or relevant advertising.
What is the lifetime of a cookie?
The lifetime of a cookie may vary, depending on the purpose for which it is placed.
- There are cookies used exclusively for a single session — these are no longer retained after the user leaves the website.
- Permanent cookies — are retained and reused each time the user returns to that website, but can be deleted by the user at any time.
What are cookies placed by third parties?
Certain pieces of content on some sites may be placed on the visited website by third parties via banners, boxes, or links — and all these tools may contain cookies. They are called "third party cookies" because they are not placed by the website owner; the third-party providers are subject to applicable laws and the privacy policy of the website owner.
How cookies are used by this site
A visit to this site may place cookies for the purposes of:
- Site performance cookies
- Visitor analytics cookies
- Geotargeting cookies
- Registration cookies
- Advertising cookies
- Advertising provider cookies
These cookies may come from third parties.
Performance cookies
This type of cookie retains the user's preferences on this site so that they do not need to be set on every visit.
For example: video player volume settings, video streaming speed compatible with the browser.
Cookies for visitor analytics
Each time a user visits this site, the analytics software provided by a third party generates a user analysis cookie. This cookie tells us whether you have visited this site before. The browser will tell us if you have this cookie, and if not, we will generate one. This allows monitoring how many unique users visit us and how often. As long as you are not registered on this site, this cookie cannot be used to identify natural persons; it is used only for statistical purposes.
If you are registered, we may also know the details you provided to us, such as email address and username — these are subject to confidentiality and the provisions of the Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Policy, and applicable laws on the protection of personal data.
Cookies for geotargeting
These cookies are used by software that determines which country you come from. It is fully anonymous and is used only to target content — even when you visit our page in Romanian or another language, you receive the same advertising.
Registration cookies
When you register on this site, we generate a cookie informing us whether you are registered or not. Our servers use these cookies to show us the account you are registered with and whether you have permission for a specific service. They also allow us to associate any comment you post on our site with your username. If you have not selected "keep me logged in", this cookie is automatically deleted when you close the browser or the computer.
Advertising cookies
These cookies allow us to learn whether you have viewed an online advertisement, what type it is, and how much time has passed since you saw the message. These cookies are also used to target online advertising. We may also use third-party cookies for better ad targeting, for example to show holiday ads if the user has recently visited a holiday-related article on the site.
These cookies are anonymous; they store information about content viewed, not about users. We also set anonymous cookies via other sites where we advertise. By receiving them, we can use them to recognize you as a visitor to that site if you later visit our site, and deliver advertising based on this information.
Advertising provider cookies
A large portion of the advertising you find on this site belongs to third parties. Some of these parties use their own anonymous cookies to analyze how many people were exposed to an advertising message, or to see how many people were exposed multiple times to the same ad. The companies generating these cookies have their own privacy policies, and this site has no access to read or write these cookies. Third-party cookies may be used to show you targeted advertising on other sites as well, based on your browsing of this site.
Other third-party cookies
On some pages, third parties may set their own anonymous cookies for tracking the success of an application or customizing it. Due to the way they are used, this site cannot access these cookies, just as third parties cannot access cookies held by this site. For example, when you share an article using the social media button on this site, that social network will record your activity.

What type of information is stored and accessed through cookies?
Cookies retain information in a small text file that allows a website to recognize a browser. The webserver will recognize the browser until the cookie expires or is deleted. The cookie stores important information that improves the Internet browsing experience (e.g., language settings for accessing a site; keeping a user logged into a webmail account; online banking security; keeping products in the shopping cart).
Why are cookies important for the Internet?
Cookies are a central element of the efficient functioning of the Internet, helping to create a friendly browsing experience tailored to each user's preferences and interests. Refusing or disabling cookies may make some websites impossible to use.
Refusing or disabling cookies does not mean you will no longer receive online advertising — it just means it can no longer take into account your preferences and interests as evidenced by your browsing behavior.
Examples of important uses of cookies (which do not require user authentication via an account):
- Content and services tailored to user preferences — news categories, weather, sports, maps, public and government services, entertainment sites, and travel services.
- Offers tailored to user interests — password retention, language preferences (e.g., displaying search results in Romanian).
- Retention of child protection filters for Internet content (family mode options, safe search features)
- Limiting the frequency of ad delivery — limiting the number of times an ad is shown to a specific user on a site.
- Providing more relevant advertising to the user.
- Measurement, optimization, and analytics features — such as confirming a certain level of traffic on a website, what type of content is viewed, and how a user reaches a website (e.g., via search engines, directly, from other websites, etc.). Websites carry out such usage analyses to improve sites for the benefit of users.
Security and privacy concerns
Cookies are NOT viruses! They use plain text formats. They are not made up of code, so they cannot be executed and cannot self-run. Consequently, they cannot duplicate or replicate themselves across other networks to run or replicate again. Because they cannot perform these functions, they cannot be considered viruses.
Cookies can, however, be used for negative purposes. Since they store information about users' preferences and browsing history, both on a specific site and across multiple others, cookies can be used as a form of Spyware. Many anti-spyware products are aware of this and consistently flag cookies for deletion as part of antivirus/anti-spyware deletion/scan procedures.
Browsers generally have integrated privacy settings that provide different levels of cookie acceptance, validity period, and automatic deletion after the user has visited a specific site.
Other security aspects related to cookies
Since identity protection is very valuable and represents every Internet user's right, it is advisable to know what potential problems cookies may create. Because information is constantly transmitted in both directions between the browser and the website via cookies, if an attacker or unauthorized person intervenes in the data transmission path, the information contained in the cookie may be intercepted. Although very rare, this can happen if the browser connects to the server using an unencrypted network (e.g., an unsecured Wi-Fi network).
Other cookie-based attacks involve incorrect cookie settings on servers. If a website does not require the browser to use only encrypted channels, attackers can exploit this vulnerability to trick browsers into sending information through unsecured channels. Attackers then use the information to gain unauthorized access to certain sites. It is very important to be careful when choosing the most appropriate method of protecting personal information.
Tips for safe and responsible cookie-based browsing
Due to their flexibility and the fact that most of the most-visited and largest sites use cookies, they are almost unavoidable. Disabling cookies will not allow the user to access the most widespread and used sites, including YouTube, Gmail, Yahoo, and others. Here are some tips that can help you browse worry-free with the help of cookies:
- Customize your browser cookie settings to reflect a level of cookie usage security comfortable for you.
- If cookies do not bother you and you are the only person using the computer, you can set long expiration periods for storing browsing history and personal access data. If you share computer access, you can consider setting the browser to delete individual browsing data each time you close the browser. This is a way to access sites that place cookies and delete any visit information at the end of the browsing session.
- Install and constantly update anti-spyware applications.
- Many spyware detection and prevention applications include detection of website attacks. They thus prevent the browser from accessing websites that could exploit browser vulnerabilities or download dangerous software. Make sure your browser is always up to date. Many cookie-based attacks are carried out by exploiting weaknesses of older browser versions.
- Cookies are everywhere and cannot be avoided if you want to enjoy access to the best and largest sites on the Internet — local or international. With a clear understanding of how they operate and the benefits they bring, you can take the necessary security measures so that you can browse the Internet with confidence.
Disabling and refusing cookies
Disabling and refusing to receive cookies may make certain sites impractical or difficult to visit and use. Also, refusing to accept cookies does not mean that you will no longer receive/see online advertising.
You can set the browser so that these cookies are no longer accepted, or you can set the browser to accept cookies from a specific site. However, for example, if you are not registered using cookies, you will not be able to leave comments.
All modern browsers offer the ability to change cookie settings. These settings are usually found in the "options" or "preferences" menu of the browser you are using.
