Following deletion, the domain becomes available for registration on a "first come, first served" basis.

Trends and General Information
The .org domain is one of the oldest top-level domains and has existed since 1985. It was designed and introduced for non-commercial organizations not covered by another top-level domain. The .org domain belongs to the group of so-called generic top-level domains (gTLDs), also known as "descriptive domains." The abbreviation says a lot about the orientation: .org clearly emphasizes an organizational orientation.
Today, any Internet user worldwide can buy and register a .org domain. Registered .org domains are managed by the "Public Interest Registry," led by Afilias, which is also responsible for managing .mobi and .info.
Statistics
In an international comparison, .org is one of the most popular generic top-level domains. With around 10 million registered domains, the .org TLD ranks just behind the .de domain. It is not known whether .org is used especially in some countries — but the top-level domain is genuinely strong and internationally popular. Organizations from nearly every country in the world buy and register their personal .org domain: users in Australia, Bolivia, Japan, Uruguay, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and many other countries recognize the enormous potential of the .org domain for their web projects.
Update: În data de 31.01.2020, RoTLD a raportat un număr de 602,622 de domenii .ro înregistrate și 7,526 de domenii .com.ro.
