Rules for Domain Deletion and Auto-Registration
International and .ro domain names are registered for set periods and are available for renewal at any time during the validity period and before the expiration date.
Before the registration period expires, we will send several emails to Clients and/or agents acting on their behalf to warn them that domain name registration services will expire on a specific date. These emails are sent approximately 30 or 60 days before the expiration date.
It is important that all our email addresses are not blocked by spam or junk filters and that Clients have valid email addresses on file in our database to receive these types of communications. If a Client does not renew a domain name before the expiration date, the registration data may be subject to deletion or resale at any time thereafter.
To help Clients avoid domain deletion, we may, but are not obliged to, offer our Clients a "quarantine period" after the expiration of registration services (the "quarantine period" begins one day after the expiration date). Currently, we provide a quarantine period of 5 days from the expiration date to allow the renewal of an expired domain by paying the quarantine fee.
For expired domains (does not apply to .ro domains), a special page is opened informing Clients that domains have expired and providing them with a link for renewal. The Client's account will display a Pending Delete button, and expiration notifications will also be included in renewal and expiration reports sent by email to each Client. During this period, a Client can renew a domain name; however, during the quarantine period renewal is not guaranteed and may be modified or removed at any time without prior notice.
Consequently, each Client who wishes to renew a domain name should do so before the expiration date to avoid losing the domain name. If an expired domain name is not renewed, we will delete the domain name. Registries may, but are not obliged to, assist Clients by offering a quarantine period of 5 to 90 days from the expiration date. This period is not guaranteed, so we advise Clients to renew their domain names in good time. For this service, the Client is charged a restoration fee of between 150 and 300 EUR + VAT depending on the domain extension. If the domain name is not redeemed, it becomes available for registration. If a domain name is the subject of a dispute and expires or is deleted during litigation, the party that filed the case has the option to renew or restore the domain name registration under the same commercial conditions as the original Client. If the case is ultimately terminated or an arbitrator rules against the party, the names may be deleted within 45–90 days or renewed by web.ro or by the Client during the quarantine period described above.
